"Effects of Air Quality on Cardiovascular Disease"

• As levels of PM10 and PM2.5 increase, the risk of death or hospitalization from cardiovascular disease increase.
• The relative risk of cardiovascular disease due to poor air quality is less than that of conventional risk factors overall for the general population.
  
• However, the levels of PM2.5 that are seen in Allegheny County generate risks similar to those of conventional risk factors.
