Holiday 2008 Message from the President

Postby pm2.5mary » Sat Dec 20, 2008 5:57 pm

Please be sure to pick up your present, "Playing for Change" by going to the end of this message for a most beautiful youtube musical video. It is an experience of our lifetime and points out what we can do working internationally together for human justice.

As many of you know I have been under the weather breathing wise for almost 3 months. I am a bit better in the last few days and I wanted let you all know how grateful I am for the wonderful job you are all doing in keeping BurningIssues.org Forums on the air and furthering wood smoke education. We passed our millionth visitor for the year on Nov.7. Please keep giving out BurningIssues.org and thank you so much for your contributions to it. (We are at 1,151,498th visitor as of 5pm Pacific time today.)

My heart goes out to all who are suffering with wood smoke this year. It is so unfair. As the San Francisco Bay Area goes into it's 3rd day of a burning ban, we can hope that with the education we are each doing that this bloody smoke will stop. We want and vitally need it stopped now.

The video below is one I wish I could be playing my cello in, and I can't think of a better way to say Happy Holiday's to each of you. Everyone in this video was hooked up by satellite. It's so beautiful. Don and I wanted to share it to help set the tone for the New Year.
Peace and Love

Mary and Don Here it is: STAND by ME

Stand By Me
Ben E. King (1961)

When the night has come
And the land is dark
And the moon is the only light we'll see
No I won't be afraid, no I won't be afraid
Just as long as you stand, stand by me

And darlin', darlin', stand by me, oh now now stand by me
Stand by me, stand by me

If the sky that we look upon
Should tumble and fall
And the mountains should crumble to the sea
I won't cry, I won't cry, no I won't shed a tear
Just as long as you stand, stand by me

And darlin', darlin', stand by me, oh stand by me
Stand by me, stand by me, stand by me-e, yeah

----- guitar -----

Whenever you're in trouble won't you stand by me, oh now now stand by me
Oh stand by me, stand by me, stand by me

Darlin', darlin', stand by me-e, stand by me
Oh stand by me, stand by me, stand by me

Thanks Mary for posting this great, unifying song for the holidays!

Is it Ben King who leads off the video?
