(I love how they say to first consider your neighbors. That's like saying, "Be nice").

(There is a quote from a pulmonologist from Napa Valley and some stupid comments below about the article).

Gov. doctor quotes are great

Loved the news story quoting the local health officer, pulmonologist. The reporters story was well written! Simple. Authoritative. ' If you can smell it, it's not good for you for long periods". Keeping it simple. The AMA, Am. Lung Association agree. 90% of the population show they agree by not burning wood. That's like a poll isn't it? Politicians listen to polls ! The vast majority do not burn wood even though gas is $ 4 \gal. You can burn gas in a fireplace cleanly and as economically unless you get your own wood. Might even save you chimney cleaning costs and keep you from burning down your house, killing family and neighbors. Keep up the good work.

No. I live in upstate NY and you can get 4 cord of firewood split and seasoned for $720. I don't know anybody who can heat a normal sized house where I live for $720 a year on gas or fuel oil. In fact it won't even buy you one tank of fuel oil.

Most people who are willing to go through the work of burning wood aren't going to pay somebody for the 15 minute job of cleaning their chimney.

I usually don't chime in anymore, you guys can chit chat back and forth about smoke all you want, but please, don't try and say that it's cheaper to heat with fuel than wood. It is unequivocally false.
