State of the Air 2017

Wood smoke is a major contributor to air pollution in B.C., and – similar to vehicle emissions – its health effects are detrimental to humans. Wood smoke contains fine particulate matter (PM 2.5), which can cause chronic and acute respiratory and cardiac diseases, especially among children and the elderly. It is for this reason that we devote much of the 2017 State of the Air Report to wood smoke.
